Hi! I am Ruchi.
My roots trace back to a quaint town in India, where my childhood was steeped in vibrant culture and traditions; the beautiful Mandalas made by my mother, fragrant aromas wafting from her kitchen, the rich tapestry of rituals performed by my father on festivals, and the tales of Indian mythology that echoed through our home all contributed to shaping my creative spirit.
Growing up surrounded by the kaleidoscope of Indian textiles, colors, motifs, and traditions deeply influenced my artistic journey. Following my passion, I pursued formal design education and had the fortune to collaborate with esteemed designers and fashion houses. In 2006, I embarked on a new chapter in Austin, Texas, where alongside my husband, I co-founded a fair trade gift company. This venture not only allowed me to continue my design odyssey but also empowered artisan communities back in India, aligning with my unwavering commitment to social equality.
Chapter 2
With my background in design and my collaboration with artisans, I was introduced to the exquisite art of Indian block print—its natural fibers, intricate textures, and motifs steeped in mythology exude a unique authenticity.
Throughout my travels and life experiences, I've witnessed a common narrative of women sacrificing their dreams to prioritize the needs of their families and partners. This ignited a deep longing to envision a future where every woman is liberated to pursue her deepest desires, breaking free from the constraints that have silenced her voice for too long.
I've had the privilege of encountering numerous remarkable, resilient women who defied formidable obstacles to chase their dreams with unwavering determination. Inspired by their journeys, I found the courage to forge my own path.
From this amalgamation of dreams and connections, Paisley Affair was born. My vision is to curate a stunning collection using authentic, earth-rooted materials and unite around it to celebrate the genuine stories, cherished dreams, and innate beauty of women.
This vision transcends mere clothing; it's about creating a legacy of impact. Every purchase, every thread, every color will narrate the story of a woman who not only exists but thrives, leads, and uplifts those around her.
